We’re excited to introduce CATio Spaces, a new way for civil society organizations to connect with our team and talk about cybersecurity in a low pressure, friendly environment.
As you may know, The Engine Room is maintaining the Cybersecurity Assessment Tool(CAT) for the next three years. Over the past decade we’ve supported nonprofits, civil society organizations (CSOs), journalists, activists and human rights defenders navigating digital security. And we get it – cybersecurity can sometimes feel technical, intimidating, or even out of reach, especially for grassroots organizations with limited resources.
That’s why we’re launching CATio Spaces – a cozy, welcoming space where civil society organizations can schedule time with our team to talk about cybersecurity in an approachable way. Whether you have specific questions, need help understanding your assessment results and recommendations, or just want to explore best practices, we’re here!
So…why “CATio”? It’s inspired by catios – safe outdoor patios for cats (and their humans) to explore the world while staying protected. CATio Spaces combine the support of our Cybersecurity Assessment Tool (CAT) with the comfort and curiosity of a catio. It’s a place to stretch, climb, ask questions, and learn with no expertise required.
WHAT CAN YOU DO IN OUR CATio SPACES?
Cybersecurity can feel like a towering challenge; complex, technical, and sometimes intimidating, especially for resource-constrained organizations. But like a cat tower, it’s easier to navigate when you take it one step at a time, with sturdy platforms and friendly guidance along the way.
A CATio session is a 30-minute chat where you can:
- Ask questions about digital safety and privacy
- Get support navigating a current cybersecurity challenge
- Chat about tools or practices that might work for your team
- Understand risks and how to manage them, even with limited resources
- Walk through recommendations received after completing an assessment on Cybersecurity Assessment Tool (CAT)
